Hi, here's a weird one that's been bothering me for a few days....
I'm working through a BrightStor DR solution on Dell PowerEdge 2800 for
Win2003. I have a WinPE image that uses the Dell Raid drivers and can see
all drives on the server:
RAID 5 (C,D,E:\) & RAID 1 (F CDFS (V:\) (cd rom).
However if I restore from a Full backup set using Brightstor ASR Disaster
Recovery Wizard, Volumes no longer have Drive letters assigned in WinPE,
even though under Windows 2003 there appears to be no issues.
So to recap - after an ASR rebuild, WinPE no longer functions as it did
before the rebuild, even tough the Native 2003 OS has all the appropriate
partitions and drive letters.
Additional Info - WinPE, now has only assigned C:\ to Volume 1 on Disk 1 -
the actual C:\, but no D:\, E:\ or F:\.
DISKPART.exe can be used within WinPE to select drives and volumes and
assign letters to all the volumes,so I guess my question is , if a rebuilt
2003 system can see all the partitions and all the volumes with the correct
drive letters, why is WinPE giving me such a hard time? and can I force
WinPE to assign letters to all volumes without resorting to scripting a
DISKPART.exe solution?
Cheers,
Chuck
