Winlogon using Empty Xerox folder

L

Larry(LJL269)

WhoLockMe reports that C:\Program Files\xerox\nwwia has been opened by
Winlogon (PID=428). Now C:\Program Files\xerox has nothing in it but
that subfolder- no exes, dlls,.. hidden/system files.

I killed Winlogon which of course killed XP. Anything wrong with
booting to BartPE & deleting C:\Program Files\xerox in it? I hope its
absence wont screw-up Winlogon.

Your help is MUCH appreciated. Thanks- bye- Larry

Any advice is my attempt to contribute more than I have received but I can only assure you that it works on my PC. GOOD LUCK.

Why do you want to remove it? It's part of the XP installation, it doesn't
come from 3rd party. As to your question I don't know what would happen.

Greetings Rock & thank you for your response.

http://www.castlecops.com/p815232-Xerox_folder.html &
http://blogs.msdn.com/oldnewthing/archive/2004/11/16/258220.aspx give
some detail. I'll assign icon to this folder that by convention tells
me 'DONT DELETE'

Interesting that Winlogon not in SYSTEM32 dir & Winlogin r malware.

Didnt think Google would have anything- my bad!
Comments/suggestions/corrections appreciated.
Thanks- bye- Larry
