WindowXP Home Edition Digital Signature Error

Hello,

I recently had to reinstall Windows XP Home Edition on my HP Pavilion
dv1000. I used my operating recory disk with SP2 and everything seemed to
install properly. But, now every time I try to download and install a
Microsoft Update or ANY OTHER PRODUCT I can never download or install the
program. The error box always pops up and says "Unknown Publisher" and that
the digital signature is not certified. I tried using the Microsoft solution
steps but that did nothing and I'm growing more and more frustrated with
this. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue?

Also, I have Internet Explorer 6 because I can't download Internet Explorer
7. Also, I was never prompted during installation to enter my product key,
qhich I found a bit odd.

THank you.

Almost all recovery media shipped with OEM PC's comes preactivated, you do
not have to enter a product key during the process. It sounds like the
recovery process did not work correctly, you'll have to contact HP support
for help with their recovery system, it is specific to their machines.

In the past hps recovery/installation cd(s) had the option:recovery Format &
Format & Recovery, the options should be on the start page..Also,for digital
verification(s),go to run, type:SigVerif Let the OS run the tests & verify.
