Since a month ago my computer started to slow down a lot.
If I check the windows task manager, the CPU usage is 100%
even when nothing is running. Also the scree seems to
light a few times once in a while. I have norton antivirus
and adware to prevent it from virus. Do you thing it is a
virus, a worm or something else...how can I find out it.
I run the antivirus but everything seems fine.

When you're in Task Manager, check the Processes and look at what's using
your CPU. If you click on the word CPU twice, it'll bring the program using
the most CPU time to the top of the list. System Idle Process should be at
the top and above 90 if you're not doing anything else on the system at that
time.

Your comments on running anti-virus in the background are not true with regard to my computer! I think you should look elsewhere for the cause! Perhaps look at your system specification!

This will be the System Idle Process - it is what is run when there is
nothing else to do, just the system 'twiddling its thumbs' waiting for
something to come along. If only Task Manager is running (maybe 2%) ,
expect that to be at about 98%. If other Processes are taking a lot,
please come back, specifying what.
