I've been using PC Forrest's Startman since I bought my laptop (about 18
months).Recently when I try to start Startman by clicking on the desktop
icon or going right to the .exe file, it launches, or trys to launch
Microsoft installer and gets into an install sequence which it cannot
complete. I then click out the various error messages. From that point on
my only recourse is to uninstall and reinstall. However, within days I get
the same behavior.

By the way, Startman has performed for my over the last 5 years or so on my
98 machine and on the XP. It is no longer available to my knowledge.
However, it has really helped me patrol my startup intruders and eliminate
duplicates. It worked!.

What or how can the initiation of Start man’s exe file result in an
installation sequence?

TIA

Hi

I don't know what causes this, but I too had this happen several times
after using Startman trouble-free for months.

In the end, after reading that the author had disappeared and his web
site been taken down, I reluctantly removed it from my computer.
SpywareInfo.com, which had acted as a mirror site for Startman, now
recommends Codestuff Starter instead. It is very good, free like
Startman and so far I have had no problems :-)

If you'd like to try it it's available here:
