WindowsXP Restore issue...please help!

Greetings...
I hope all of you are well...I have run into what could be
a major issue and if any assistance can be given it would
be most appreciated.
I needed to do a system restore and I used the XP pro's
System Restore in System tools. I set the restore and it
did it's thing...After that everything was going well
until it reached the Logon Screen. I can move the cursor
but the screen does not come up at all and I cannot log
in. I tried going into safe mode and the samething
occured. I have MANY important files. I do not care about
the programs and if worse comes to worst I will reinstall
the OS but the Files are vital (they include Wedding and
Honeymoon Photos, Artwork, etc...only half of which are
backed up...)
Can anyone help?

Hi,

after startup press F8 and instead of Safe Mode try "Last
Known Good Configuration". Perhaps that will help. It
might also help to download the XP Boot Disk Files and
the W2k Registry Recovery Utility (from microsoft) cause
your crash might be caused by a faulty registry hive. If
none of this works and you have an Automated System
Recovery file and disk - try it.
