I just bought a windowsxp upgrade. I am trying to
install it and I am being told my product key # is not
valid. I have checked this number several times and am
putting correct # in. Help if you can

Hi,

You need to examine the Product Key very carefully.
It's very easy to mistake a "B" for an "8," a "G" for a "6," an "S" for a
"5,"
or a "Q" for a "0" or "O."

Fortunately, Microsoft had the good sense
to leave the "1's," "I's," "O's," and "0's" out of the equation.

Also, be sure that your CapsLock is off while entering the Product
Key.

Caps lock does not matter.
I have tested this with various Microsoft operating system and
products and have yet to find one where caps on, off or even a mix is
an issue.

Also have someone else try.
Sometimes another set of eyes and fingers can get it.

Was this a new purchase with the CD and Product Key together?
There are many different types of each and they are not
interchangeable.
