WindowsXP Bootup Takes 6 Minutes?. (REPOST)

To Both Daves. Thank you for trying to resolve my HD
slowness problem. I did try Sysclean & Adaware per your
recommendations. It took almost 6 hours to run sysclean.
The only thing that sysclean found was: 'could not set file
for reading access denied. No other errors. PC boot-up is
still the same. So I guess I will just ride it out and see
what happens. I do have an external HD that I use for
backup. IF my HD goes out, I will purchase a new HD and
install it and then sync it with my backup data.
Thanks again!
If you can think of anything else, please let me know.

Well the theory was you had parasites slowing you down. This is a very common side effect.

Just in case it is your hard disk...
Go to the hard disk manufacturer's web site and download their diagnostic software
respective to your hard disk. After the test, you will know if the hard disk is bad or
not..

Quantum/Maxtor - PowerMax

Western Digital - Data LifeGuard Tools (DLGDiag)

Hitachi/IBM - Drive Fitness Test (DFT)
