Windows98 and Active Directory

We recently upgraded our server from NT to 2000 server
with active directory. the client machines in use is
Windowsxp and windows 98, for some reason the windows 98
machine are having a problem getting authorize from the
server now, they power down the machine a couple thimes
and sometimes it allows the user to log on, the message
we are getting is no Domaine Sever is available or
password is not correct.....any clue

Ken,

Robert asks a good question. I would start there. I would also inquire as
to WINS. While you do not really need it ( speaking specifically to name
resolution for 'legacy clients' ), it could be beneficial in your situation.

Naturally the true answer is to remove WIN9x systems from your domain.
However, this is not always possible.
