Hi,

When I am loggin from my Windows XP client PCs to
Windows2000 server as member of Domain it is taking very
long time to login. Even as the Domain administrator user.

But to the same servers, if i am loggin from Windows98
client PCs , it is working fine.

How can I resolve this issue.

Please help me in this regard.

Thanking you..

Gopakumar

Perhaps a DNS issue, if DNS is not right it will take some time for the XP
machine to locate a domain controller so start by troubleshooting DNS.
(netdiag, dcdiag, dnslint, nslookup etc).
Other things to check; do you have fast connectivity to the DC? Lots of
Group Policies to apply? A big roaming profile to download?

Howdy.
Add the Server's IP address to the workstation's DNS
properties. I had the same problem and it fixed it. Or
if you're running a DHCP server, configure it to add the
IP to everyone's DNS.

You might also check the Application log in Event Viewer for any errors
loading the user profile (look for events with a source of Userenv).
