Very recently my Windows XP Home Edtion has developed a
very annoying habit.
A few times during the day, it will simply "shut down" my
pc then do an automatic boot up and restart.

**Any anyone else experience this and if so, any
suggested remedie(s)?

*(my PC is an EMachine(brand)PC. -One year old, model T-
1860- (512meg DDR ram +AMD Athelon 1800+ processor)-
Windows XP Home Edition (OEM version)
Thanks!!!

Win XP executes an automatic restart in the event of a system failure.
Therefore, more or less anything compromising the operating system could
force this reboot. Disabling the "restart on system failure" feature may
permit the exact cause to be isolated: Right-click on My Computer, click
Properties, click the Advanced tab. Under "Startup & Recovery," click
Settings. Under "System Failure," uncheck the box in front of "Automatically
restart.
