My computer has been running on Windows XP Home edition
for about 2 years. My daughter bought a new laptop with
Windows XP Professional edition on it, and she installed
XP Professional on mine. now my computer runs slowly and
I tried to uninstall the windows xp. Then I tried to
reinstall my original XP Home edition and it tells me
that it can't overwrite XP Professional! What can I do to
install my original XP Home edition?

Problem is most likely not Pro, problem is probly the
install, or some type of driver conflict. If you really
want to reinstall Home you can reformat your harddirve
and install whatever you want.

Greetings --

The only way to change from WinXP Pro to WinXP Home is to format
the drive and start over. There is no supported downgrade path or
technique.

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the
order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

Of course, you'll want to back up any important data before
starting.
