does anyone out there like windows XP?? I have had
nothing but problems since I installed it. It wiped out
all my toys, i.e. scanners, cameras, printers, etc. I
could live with that. I have a Compaq Presario. It had
windows 98. I loved it. To access one of my web server
accounts (setting it up) I had to switch to XP. Can not
believe how bad this is. It has now locked out my Word
and Excel. Had two decent programs before XP. Can not
access them unless I buy Office. Give me a break...who
are these people that created this disaster. I am an
accountant and work with spreadsheets everyday.

it seems to have been created for idiots. follow the
bouncing ball, watch the barking dog. What gives??

My big question is...if I uninstall XP will I loose my
Windows 98. Have I wiped it out?? Can we go back in
time???

I hope someone out there can help me.

Thanks,

Jeannie Larson

I have been running XP since it came out and I love it.
Not one lockup since install. However, your problem is
not XP but that POS Compaq you own. Compaq it code name
for garbage.

Two years and counting with XP and yes it takes some
taming originally. You should have known that XP stands
for eXPeriance and you need a little to use XP
effectively. Once you calm down and learn how to update
the drivers and apps for your system you will certainly
love the speed and ease of use. The graphics and
versatility of XP are unequaled to date. You think this
ones tough wait until the release of the all new OS next
fall. Keep smiling.

We upgraded from win98 to winXP and have not looked back.
The 3-D effects are better then the 'flat' win98.
Seems to be a lot more stable and help/support is better.

A few of these 'do you want to install?' items but stop
those fast. Every Wednesday during dinner/supper
we update all 5 Presarios and after dessert/coffee we
are ready to do the homework and then 1 hour of games
before bedtime. One is still using monitor and speakers
from win3.1(36Mhz) days!

No problems with Office or Plus! or Money2003 or any of
the old win98 programs.
All have been customized to user without any 3rd party
software.

Disagree....We have had Compaq model computers since
almost day one and have had no problems with them. We
have at least 10 different models with different operating
systems and each one is still working. Still using one
DOS program copyright 1992 that is still going strong.

If you had used the Upfrade Advisor like you should have, you would
know that some apps, such as Office, will need to be reloaded after
upgrading to XP. You should also upgrade your devices drivers to XP
Compatable drivers from the Vendors websites.

A litle research and preparation before would have saved you a ton of
trouble.
