Help please! My wife loaded a disc supplied with her new mobile phone which
in theory was going to allow her to then access the itunes file on the
computer and transfer tunes from here to her mobile. Something went wrong and
now we cannot access itunes file. Reads error windowsxp cannot acces file or
you dont have permission.

If I reset/ restore the computer will I loose all my downloaded music?

Opps - Surely you've got the collection backed up - Right ?
Likely, the software introduced a hook into iTunes that didn't
quite work. I would "UNINSTALL" the mobile phone app
and burn the iTunes to CD/DVD-R before trying it again. On
attempt #2, I'd go to the Mobile Phone vendor's website and
look for updates or an FAQ. Unfortunately, most of this new
technology doesn't always play well together. Recently, I'm
seeing much more issues with PCs that are serving removable
devices (Media Players, Phones & Pocket PCs).

Reinstall your iTunes software:
