My Music file not found by iTunes

I see many others have experienced this problem, with no helpful responses so
far. To recap, iTunes will no longer load...I receive the message that the
my music folder cannot be found or created. I downloaded Tweak UI to see if
I could change the location of the file to make is accessible to iTunes and
found that My Music is not even listed under the special folders option. It
seems to have completely vanished. There are many my music folders on the C
drive, but evidently iTunes is looking for one in a special folder type of
location. Any suggestions as to how to get it back in that folder?

I fouund the following solution on
http://ultimatecomputersolutions.com/WinXP.aspx and it worked for me:

"Topic: ITUNES folder cannot be found or created

ISSUE:Installed iTunes 4.2 and when launch it the following happens: We get
the license agreement and click "I Agree" then got a dialog box that says
"The folder 'iTunes' cannot be found or created and is required. The default
location for this folder is inside the 'Music' folder." When you click OK,
iTunes quits.

SOLUTION:The problem originates when your registry key gets messed up, so
iTunes doesn't know where your default music folder is, since windows either
has the wrong path or no path. To fix this, you need to go into registry
editor, which you can do by going to
Start --> Run then type "regedit" and hit enter. Once in the registry
editor, pick HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows -->
Explorer --> Shell Folders, and edit the "My Music" to be your default music
folder (C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\My Music). Do the
same in "User Shell Folders" which is also under Explorer.& the issue would
be resolved."

Hope this helps!
