windows xp wont install

Motherboard - Asus AV8 Deluxe with SATA
ATI Radeon X800 XT
My hard drive doesnt appear in bios

when i try to clean install i get the message that a hard drive could not be
found

Then you need to check your connections to your HD and be
sure it is clear, and make sure it follows manufacturer's
instructions. If you need more help I would call Asus.

If the hard drive is not detected in the BIOS then either there is a
problem with the hard drive, the on board controller or the cable.
