Windows XP upgrade issues

Just updated a day ago to Windows XP from windows 98. I
am getting occasional random nonsensical text appear on
Word, Internet browsers or anything with text
capabilities. Anitvirus is running and so is firewall so
pretty sure not virus. My guess is incompatibility
issues with my mother board or some other hardware.
Please help, it can be very annoying. Thank you.
 
If your microphone is turned on - turn it off. Word is now equipped to
handle basic speech-to-text. Until you either train it or turn off the
feature, every time you blow your nose Word thinks you're talking to it.
