Hi there, I recently upgraded an ME operating system to Windows XP
Professional edition (older one without service packs) and now I cannot
access any webpages. Internet Explorer continuously loads the "This page
cannot be displayed" page for any address I try. As well, no other update or
download programs on the computer will work. Obviously this is somehow due to
the computer not recognizing my internet connection, but I am not sure what
to do in order to fix it, as I have checked in Internet and Network
Connections in Control panel, and it lists the connection as there and
enabled. Does anyone have any suggestions? (Oh, and I have also tried the
Winsock fix, it didn't work).

Thanks

Hi

How are you connecting to the Internet - via a modem, or LAN/cable modem?

When I upgraded from ME I did a clean install, and XP detected my network
card and did the registration on-line with no trouble.

If you are using a cable modem via a LAN then take a look at the network
options and check that the TCP/IP is set to obtain DNS server and IP address
automatically.

Hope this helps.
