Windows XP Updates

I am having a major problem with windows XP and SP2 I can't download any
updates I have around 83 in the queue and for some reason none of them will
be accepted by my pc. I have emptied out the temp internet files folder,
tried automatic and custom downloads but none of them will be accepted by my
PC. Can someone please shed some light on this for me or am I in need of a
reformat and reload of XP.
