Hi

The problem im having is that my windows xp will randomly shutdown. It doesnt show that windows is shutting down or anything. It just goes to a blank screen then shutsdowns. It really doesnt matter what im doing. If im playing a game surfing the net. Ive ran virus scans with various AV Software. I called up Dell and they had me run a diagnostics. Well when we did that the DST Short Test Failed with an error of 1000-0146. We tried running a more involved diagnostics but I dont have a floppy drive on my laptop. So we couldnt do that. If anyone has any idea what a DST Short Test is or what the error code pertains to, please help me out

Thanks

Hi,

Please replace the hard drive, DST is a set of drive tests
built into the firmware of every industry hard drive.
These tests are invoked by
a DST-aware diagnostic software application that resides
on the host computer (one example of this software
is SeaTools drive diagnostic software from Seagate).

Hope this help!

Bye
Raj
