Windows XP start up

The Windows Media Player starts up each time I log on. I
just want to go directly into the Windows screen without
the player.
 
Click Start Menu - Run
type msconfig and click OK
Have a look on the startup tab
Untick any entry that mentions media player
or
Determine where Media Player is being launched from
and remove the shortcut and/or registry key
