For some time, I have been working on a DVD which performs
an OEM installation of Windows XP Professional and a
number of additional programs. Since I format my
computers on a frequent basis, this DVD has been fantastic.

With the release of Service Pack 2, I decided to upgrade
my DVD (as I already had to Service Pack 1). However,
each time I try (using different techniques, progams,
etc), I encounter the same problem.

I boot off the DVD and begin the installation process.
All files are copied over (including the OEM files which I
have copied to the DVD). The system reboots automatically
to enter the graphical portion of the installation.

During this reboot, I encounter a STOP error on the way to
the graphical session. The error is:

PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED
STOP: 0x0000006B (0xC000007A, 0x00000008, 0x00000000,
0x00000000)

Performing the standard Google and MS Support search, I
see that this is frequently a problem with the master boot
record and that Adaptec GoBack as well as Norton Antivirus
have been known to trigger these issues. At no point has
any of these systems had either of these two products
installed. These are fresh installations.

I have attempted installation off this disc on many
different machines, including a homebrew, a Compaq
Presario and an older Acer laptop. All three give me the
EXACT same sequence of events and STOP errors.

After many revisions of the DVD, I have concluded that the
integration of Service Pack 2 into the setup files is what
is killing the DVD. To do this integration I am using the
command built-in to the network installer,
the "/integration:[path]" argument which successfully
integrates SP2 into my existing SP1 DVD.

This seems very plain and simple, but it is defeating me.
I have performed numberous formats and re-creations of the
MBA with still no success. Does anyone have experience
with the slipstreaming of SP2 into OEM kits like this?

Thanks in advance.

Integrating SP2 into an already slipstreamed SP1 installation causes
this. You need to integrate SP2 into a CLEAN Windows XP CD that
does NOT contain SP1.

See http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=SF&f=70 for unattended
installs. Great resource.
