windows xp sp2 instation error

Hi, I am installing windows xp sp2. It will start installation but after
like 20 min i am getting error message like " Access denined". with ok Button
when i press ok it will roll bcak all install file and at the end it says
installation is not finished. Is there any setup i have to do or make some
thing disable or enable in my system to install SP2 in my system..
Please help me about this problem

I had multiple instances of this on my XP home and did exactly what
this article says to no avail. So many registry entries were not
allowing changes that I finally gave up. What do you suggest then?
 
Have you inspected the %windir%\setupapi.log file as said in the MS-KB? Post the results. If there are a large number of keys with incorrect permissions, see this article:

I did one fool thing though on my last attempt to install SP2 on Home
edition. I right clicked on the HKEY_....folder and changed all
permissions in the folder in one fell swoop. OK so I'm an idiot! It
was worth a try.

I did manage to rollback to the SP1 install ok and have had no
problems since.

I understand XP pro has a utility to reset the registry permissions
but XP home does not? No?

"subinacl" is a part of Windows Resource Kit Tools.
