it? i don't want to format. plz help

You can copy the folders of the Download Program you use and paste it in the
new system but after install the program on the new system.

SP2 doesn't have more problems than SP1 and certainly not more spyware
issues. Sounds like you let the system get infected and did not clean
it properly. Your best bet, since the system is in such an undefined
state, is to do a clean install or take it to a professional computer
tech to fix for you. Then learn how to not install malware.

thanks elafify,
i did something similar to ur suggestion. actually i overwrite the old
installation with new installation. before it says disk is full shld i format
it. but i didn't read it properly so i troubled you all. now i red that
clearly and so i emptied some downloads on the desktop to another partition.
now new installation asks to overwrite the existing installation, which will
delete system files. so i choosed that option due to which i loose all
settings but all the applications are there. some of them are working and
some are not. but my download manager worked so i downloaded all files and
again formatted this partition and c drive (windows 2000).

but unfortunately again i am suffering with some other errors. these are not
related to this thread as 1 is windows 2000 related and another is general.
i'll post them in the respected forums. please reply there.

anyway thanks for your reply. actually i posted this Question in many forums
where many people give many best explanation but the to the point solution is
given by you only. thanku very much
