Hello All,
A week or two ago I was reading the list of programs that
may experience loss of functionality when service pack 2
is applied (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
kbid=884130&product=windowsxpsp2). We are a software
development house and at the time, two of the products on
the list immediately caught my attention (Visual Basic 6.0
and Outlook 2003) since we are currently using these
extensively for development in existing and future
programs.
Revisiting the link, I have noticed that these two
programs have since been removed from the list with no
explanation as to why. I noticed that Symantec Anti-virus
Corporate Edition (which we also use) was also removed,
but I know this was due to a softare update provided by
the manufacturer that addresses the issue.
My questions are...
First, why were Visual Basic 6.0 and Outlook 2003 removed
from the list? Had further testing shown that they were
wrongfully put there?
Next, is there any additional software or patches that
would need to be downloaded to make these programs run
correctly in a Service Pack 2 environment?
Finally, could someone please direct me to any additional
information regarding the specific reasons why these and
other applications may or may not be incompatible with
Windows XP Service Pack 2.
Thank you in advance for any information provided.
