SP2 and add/remove programs

Has anyone noticed any problems with their add/remove programs list after
upgrading to SP2?
On 2 machines that I updated, I noticed that the add/remove program list had
only about 10 programs listed and they did not include the entry for the
service pack.

Due to problems with an application, I needed to uninstall the service pack
and had to accomplish it by using the system restore to roll back.

Thanks,
Mike

One thing SP2 does is add a check box 'show updates' to Add/remove
programs

You can use the registry.

Warning, if you afraid of modifying the registry, don't do this.
hkey local machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall
Look for yahoo or whatever program and remove the registry key.

This is after you remove the software and it's still listed in add/remove
programs after being deleted from the hard drive.

Installing SP2 supersedes almost all existing updates, and they then
cannot be removed individually; so their entries get removed.

Many such entries are pretty meaningless anyway, so some installs don't
bother

Run regedit.exe - look in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
for a subkey relating to it (starting at that outer key, do an edit -
find - in Data only for a word appearing in its entry, eg Yahoo.

Delete the subkey found

This happens where an uninstall is poorly set up by the authors of the
software concerned, usually leaving a few files around in the program's
folder
