Windows XP SP1 Security update support

Gartner is tell their customers that Microsoft is dropping security update
support for Windows XP SP1 on 10/10/2006. Is this true. They told us that
we will not be able to get the security patch for SP1 and must upgrade to SP2
or pay Microsoft extra for being able to download security patches for SP1.
We are a large company and it's almost impossible to upgrade all.
Where can I find support dates for Windows XP?
