Windows XP Shutdown

When I try to shut down Windows XP the system just hangs
at the "Windows is shutting down" screen and doesn't
actually shut down so I have to turn off the power
manually. Is there anything I can do to resolve this?

Hi,

In order to solve the problem, you need to reinstall the
Power Management. I suggest you follow these steps:

1. Click Start, Control Panel, Performance and
Maintenance, and then System icon.
2. This opens the System properties window.
3. Select Hardware tab and click Device Manager.
4. Click "+" beside System Devices.
5. Right-click the "ACPI Power button " device and select
Uninstall.
6. Restart the system.

If the problem persists, I recommend you download and
install Windows XP SP1 from the following URL:

ks/sp1/default.asp

Thanks,
