WINDOWS XP SHUTDOWN PROBLEM

When I shut down WIn XP, I get an error message box telling me that
DIRECTDBNOTIFYWNDPROC is not shutting down and I have two options:
1. Press End Program 2. Cancel

Pressing either button then closes Windows down. Not had it till recently.
Anyone any ideas please
