I work on lots of computers that are owned by almost as many different
people.
Phone support is particularly difficult when I don't know which display
conventions are being used with XP.

Ideally I could have them run a script that would set the display options.
Then, another could be run to return things to "normal".

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Fred

I'm not sure what "display conventions" you speak of that would make phone
technical support easier.. Do you mean "Classic vs Windows XP" view? In
those cases I try to find the way that works for both - no matter how they
look at their screen. Usually involves using START -> RUN and a little
typing - but it minimizes the changes done to the end-users system - because
usually they are comfortable with the look and feel now and minor changes
seem to irritate them. heh
