Windows XP Security Update Blocks Internet Connection

Hi there!

I'm having a problem where updating Windows XP seems to
confuse my internet settings. If I update my computer past
May 2003, my computer fails to recognize my internet
connection, despite following all the leads of the trouble-
shooter. Any ideas?

Most likely, there is a single update which is causing your problem. It is
possible that you do not even need this update. Therefore, find out which
update is causing the problem by booting and testing your Internet
connection after each update. In general, noncritical updates which do not
pertain to your individual situation can be avoided, due to their chance of
causing unwanted side effects.
