having a Windows XP Service Pack 2 CD....I don't have a CD because I was able
to download it for free from Microsoft...Please Help!!!

Follow Method 3 [Method 3: Reinstall the Search Companion Files] in the
following article.

Error Message: "A File That Is Required to Run Search Companion Cannot Be
Found":
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319949

When you're prompted for the source files (SP2 CD), mention the following
path:

"C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles"

I typed in "C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles" and it still would not allow it to
reinstall..It says "The file 'msgr3en.dll' on Windows XP Professional Service
Pack 2 CD is needed." and "Type the path where the file is located, and then
click OK." then "Copy files from:"

Thanks for the link and for trying to help me though...

Now it actually says it needs "The file 'nls302en.lex' on Windows XP
Professional CD-ROM is need" and then asking me if there is a path to where
the file is locates...do you know what i have to type in there?

Chris,

Try this path C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

or copy the file manually from the following folder

C:\Windows\System32\DllCache

to the following location:

C:\Windows\Srchasst

If the file is not present in C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386, then you may
download a copy from here:

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/temp/0409.zip
Extract the files to a temporary folder, and move them to
"C:\Windows\srchasst\mui\0409". You may want to backup the existing files in
that folder first.
