Windows XP- root drive keep clotted with unnecessary files

I have Win XP but I am not sure which SP (mine is auto-update so must be the
latest). I noticed that my root drive (C) is always dwindling in capacity. I
clean my c drive every few days to remove unneeded temp files. However I
believed there are some programs, most likely Windows that are constantly
adding more cache or unnecessary files onto the drive. How do I find out
where they are or config for such files to be ridden off regularly? Thanks.

Google for and D/L Disk Cleaner, run it as a sheduled task daily to clean
out *.tmp /TIF files etc.
