when i try to use the system restore cd's on my a330n hp desktop, i get a
message saying that the cd's do not support my hp pc model. Hp has sent me 4
sets of recovery disks, all the same. They are the right ones, i used them
the first time and they worked. don't know what happened, but they just
won't work again. Also when i go into the hp website for driver and software
support, I let the website autodetect my pc, I get a message saying my pc
is not an hp or compaq product.?????? what the heck/???/ out of options.
I tried everything i can think of, i cannot restore the original software.
I downloaded a copy of windows xp, validated it by Microsoft. Computer
working great, it just doesn't work as supposed to, can not install the hp
stuff back on it, any advice????

Because you chose an OEM product (HP) your product support comes from the
OEM (HP)...
You should contact them.

And what do *you* mean by *downloaded a copy of Windows XP*?

Did you perhaps install a BIOS update on this PC, one that was not
from HP?

I've found HP's chat support online to be pretty good.

I would agree that the downloaded windows xp is suspect.

i did flash the bios, one for my dv8110us notebook. in that event, what
change was made and how can it be reversed?

Unless you saved a backup copy of the original at the time you flashed,
you will need to contact HP for it.
