A friend has a 1 year old Dell with XP on it. She is having alot of trouble
with it. I only got a blank screen when I tried to restore to an earlier
date. So I tried the operating system disk. After that I got all kinds of
error messages after start up. I tried to install the drivers but it
wouldn't load. Where can I get a step by step on how to restore her computer?

Thsnk you,

Thsnk you,

Your friend should call Dell tech support. It sounds very much like she
has hardware problems. It could be bad RAM, a bad hard drive - there's
no way to tell from your post.

Thsnk you,

Once you've resolved the hardware issues (as Malke has already
suggested) that have probably caused the problems:

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
