Windows XP Publisher files (.pub) will not open in Vista

R&Co.

I have recently upgraded(?) to Vista. All my client invoice files were
created using Microsoft Publisher (XP). When I try to open a .pub file with
Vista I get the message
"Publisher cannot open the file" - that is it - no helpful suggestion on
what to do.

It is tax time - I need to have access to my invoices - can anyone help?

Thanks

The only way to view or work with Publisher files is to install Publisher..

Are you running the same version
of Publisher on both machines?

Maybe the following article will offer an idea:

The following link is the result of a
search into the Google archive for
"Publisher cannot open the file".

You'll notice that in many instances
virus software is the cause.

Duh.

He would have to have Publisher INSTALLED to get this
error message, Mr. MVP.

He probably has an old version of MSPUB, though, which
can't open the files he has.

Not Me

He may well have allowed Publisher to install to the default C:\Program
Files
Or may not have started the install with a rt click>'run as admin, or has
too old a version of Publisher.
But I doubt that if he installed the same Publisher XP that the files were
created with.
Did you try running Publisher in XP compatibility mode?
