Windows XP Program windows popping up at Start up

When I log in to my computer I get the desk top OK. Then I get 5 program
windows which I don't want on start up. --- Windows Live Messenger
Today
Microsoft
Office Power Point
Microsoft
Office Excel
Super Anti
Spyware update
How do I remove them?
Be gentle with me I am just a learner.
 
Thank you for your response Kelly. I followed your instructions and went to
Run on my computer and there was only 1 of the 5 which was listed [Super Anti
Spyware] I unchecked it, then rebooted and it did not appear at start up.
Then I went to the link that you sent me and the Spyware was the only one
that was listed on there.

Use the settings options in Messenger to configure that.
Actual wording might be different but similar to these:
Open Messenger and under Options-General
uncheck those settings you don't want.
Uncheck - run messenger when I login to Windows,
Uncheck - open Today when I signin.
Or do not automatically signin to avoid that.

I have - run in background at start but
Do not automatically signin.
