Hello, I'm having an issue that I inherited at work and I'm hoping
someone can shed light on the issue.

We have a workstation with Win XP Pro SP1 installed, Office 2003 Basic
edition (it is a new computer) and there's no icon for Outlook on the
desktop and we cannot locate any setting to turn that on.

Is there a way to have a non-shortcut Outlook 2003 icon on the desktop?
If so, how do we turn that on?

Thanks in advance, and forgive me if this isn't the correct forum, I
couldn't find the 2003 groups.

Go to Start > Programs > Microsoft Office, right-click on
Outlook 2003 and select Send To "Desktop" (create shortcut).

No, that makes a shortcut, we don't want a shortcut, we want a fully functional desktop icon (like Outlook 2000 has.)

No, that makes a shortcut, we don't want a shortcut, we want a fully functional desktop icon (like Outlook 2000 has.)

Why? In my experience that's a recipe for disaster. The user
accidentally deletes it (and of course denies they did it), clears the
recycle bin that calls the help desk about how they can't access their
email because their computer messed something up. I get out there and
they deleted not the shortcut, but the PROGRAM ITSELF. Now I have to
run Office install to put Outlook back on the system.

Now we only put shortcuts on the desktop; it is so easy to have the
use create a new shortcut and I can explain it to them over the phone
with no visit to the box.

Normally i will use my user name to check 2 different email account at 1 computer. I do not have problem to create 2 email accounts at 1 computer using Outlook 2000 but when i try to do this at outlook 2003, the msg pop out said that i already have the email account.

Last time i can right click the Outlook 2000 icon at desktop then select properties and create as many account as i want but now for outlook 2003 cannot.

Anybody can help me on this?
