Windows XP professional evaluation copy ?

Have Windows XP Professional loaded thru class/dealer.
Tried to update, download Windows XP Service Pack 1 via
Microsoft Web, get "product key to install windows is
invalid".Tried to load Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1
via CD, get "ie6wz.exe entry point not found". If I buy
Windows XP Professional Upgrade, will everything be
ok,and not any of my data ?

If you buy the upgrade, you will need to do a repair installation using the
valid key.

Yes, but you also need a qualifying product to upgrade from:

An evaluation product is not a qualifying product for anything.
