I think a process on my PC is running in the background
which is downloading data, however, I'm not sure. Can
anyone tell me which of these processes should/should not
be running? Any help would be much appreciated.

realsched.exe
carpserv.exe
spoolsv.exe
explorer.exe
svchost.exe
msmsgs.exe
lsass.exe
services.exe
winlogon.exe
csrss.exe
smss.exe
nvsvc32.exe
Navapsvc.exe
alg.exe

Process File: alg or alg.exe
Process Name: Application Layer Gateway Service
Description: The Application Layer Gateway Service is
Used for Internet Connection Sharing
Common Errors: N/A
System Process: Yes

This appears to be something like Kazaa or iMesh.

Also, Realsched.exe has only one purpose: to periodically
popup and nag you to register and get updates from
Real.com. It sould be removed from startup.

msmsgs.exe is MS Instant Messenger. It's another one I
always remove. If you want to chat, you can still do so
by manually clicking on the MSIMesenger icon. It doesn't
need to pop up in your face each time you boot.
