After downloading the Windows XP Pro SP1, I am unable to
get the normal Windows XP Pro Welcome Screen when I start
my PC.
Even though I have enabled (i.e. checked) the "Use
Welcome Screen" and "Fast User Switch" under the "Start -
Control Panel ->User Accounts". I get the "Classical Log-
on" window (which shows a user name and password) when I
switch on the PC. What should I do to restore the
Windows XP Pro Welcome Screen.

Please help.

Thanks Eric but I am still not getting the Windows XP Pro
Welcome Screen (with the users icons). After going
through all the suggestions, I am still having the "Log
On window" when I start/restart my PC.
I went to http://www.kellys-korner-
xp.com/xp_wel_screen.htm per Rude's suggestion but I
could not create the 'Usernames' under the Regedit. I
still need some help as I love the Welcome windows (where
you just click on your user icon) over the Classic log on
window that expects you to type your name and/or password
before you enter the Start-up screen.
Please somebody should come to my aid.

Kelly,
I realised that I am part of a "workgroup" and not
a "domain" as I downloaded the SP1 when my PC was hooked
to my office network. Currently my PC (having the
Welcome screen problem) is not hooked to any network or
website. How do change to a Domain under the PC's
current circumstance? It looks like being part of a
workgroup is contributing to my problem, reference MKBA
#305281. Am I right? My problem is still not solved.
Please come back as usual.
