Windows XP Pro reboot loop

J

Jessie

Woke up one day to find my Dell Windows XP machine turned off. I
turned it on only to see it boot into a loop. I would see cmos info &
then it would immediately reboot. I would not see the XP splash
screen. How can I fix this?

Did you try whacking it with a BABPH (Big Ass Ball Peen Hammer) before
posting here?

Can you boot to the startup menu and/or Safe Mode? As soon as you see the
POST start repeatedly tapping the F8 Key.

One in twenty of your replies contain any useful advice, and then limited to
generalisations. The other nineteen are just abusive, pointless remarks.

Your math is seriously flawed... or you're a victim of your own
selective attention

Is it? This is a typical example of one of your idiotic replies. Doesn’t
help, wastes everyone’s time and puts down the enquirer.
If it’s meant to be funny, well maybe it would be to a five year old, not to
an adult though.

I am here for my own learning... AND for my own amusement. I couldn't
care less about how others feel about me or what I post. I include
you in that category.

BTW... Learn how to cut and paste from other threads, bunky.

It might - MIGHT - make your posts more coherent to those following
threads.

hmm, woke up one day
and found the computer
turned off..

what you did not mention
was how many days was
the pc left on.

it sounds like the disk
crashed. what you will
need is a windows cd
to boot the machine.

if you can get a hold of
a bootable cd and the
pc boots with it, then you
should use the recovery
console.

keep us apprised....

Check to see if your cmos sees the hard drive. It may have failed.

Thank you for voicing what is right.
Issue is resolved. I booted to recovery console & noticed all my boot
system files have been renamed for example ntdetect.com became
ntdetect.com.error etc.. What on earth renamed these files like that?

Most likely malware.
