Windows XP Pro. Explorer fails to start

I am having the following problems on my Dell Notebook with Windows XP Pro
installed along with all the latest service releases hardware and bug fixes.

After the machine is running for a while, Windows Explore throws an error.
I will not let me look up files on my hard drive because it will not open My
Computer, any director short cuts or even Control Panel from the menu. I
have included the error message that I have recieved below.

Only a restart seems to temporarily solve the problem.

Can anybody help me?

Dell - did you "De-Dell-ify" it ? - Remove all the valued added junk
that Dell installs on it. Are you using the Security software from the
factory (McAfee Security Suite) or your own preferred AV/Firewall?
Your error is a very "Generic" one that doesn't provide much insight
into the root cause. It's very possible you've picked up Malware and
should do a comprehensive check/removal for it. See Malke's guide

I'd also look into driver updates from Dell's website.
 
Yes I did remove all the DELL junk from it. In fact i built this note book
up myself.

I am a system analyst ~(shhhhhhh) so i know that extraneous crap can cause
alot of unwanted undesired results. Yes less is good. I have googled
arround, tried the "elephant man " solutions including spybot and an their
is no joy

I dont just Mc crappy unsecurity suite

I am lost dont know what to do now ?

As Mr. McCarthy said, we don't really have enough information to give
you focused troubleshooting. Now we know that you have checked for
viruses and malware and can assume the computer is clean (can we? what
av are you using?) and that you think you don't have a lot of extra
stuff running in the background.

That's all we know, which isn't enough.

If you are a systems analyst, then you know:

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time
things worked and the time they didn't?

Your problems could also be caused by hardware. Is the notebook old?
Have too little RAM? Get really hot? Any clues in Event Viewer?

Etcetera.
