I have a wireless network that has a problem keeping the link alive. Microsoft admits that this is their problem, and they have a knowledge base paper on it. The number is KB 828940. I'm running XP Pro on two machines and XP home on a laptop.
I can't get any (free) help from Microsoft Support, other than the KB paper. The paper states that they have a hotfix for this problem, but it would be best if I could wait until they incorporate this fix into a service pack (good grief!!). The link they provide in the paper takes me to a support area where I'm supposed to be able to access online email (free). However, when I go through all the machinations of their "email support request" form, I'm told that since I bought XP Pro from an oem when I bought my desktops, they say that its the oem's problem. Yet, Microsoft states earlier in the paper that this is their problem!!
I suppose I could pay Microsoft $35 to help me with this, but it seems like its their problem, and they should provide me with a fix. It is really aggrevating to have the link drop out about every five to ten minutes, and I have to reboot, and/or pull the plug on my wireless adapter.
Any help would be appreciated.
