Windows XP Pro Control Panel not responding

Hi,

I get a Control Panel "not responding" after opening the control panel and
clicking on one of the icons to bring up the next window of icons to select.
It also happens if I try to get in from Windows Explorer.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should try?

Apparently this is an ongoing problem that many people experience and it
doesn't seem Microsoft cares to address the issue.

Tried it, loved it! Turn of firewall temporarily
