Windows XP Pro Can't Install! Please Help!

I am putting together a new computer and I can't seem to
get Windows XP Pro to install. Trying to do a clean
install, and the setup will randomly stop and say it
cannot copy a certain file. Sometimes when I click retry
it will work and continue, but then it will say the same
message about another file, and no matter how many times
I hit 'enter' to retry it wont work. I tried reformatting
several times, tried reading the cd on 3 different cdrom
drives, tried switching my drive cable, even tried
switching the harddrive it would install on to no avail.
This cd was purchased directly from Intel through a
retail partnership program, and it is completely new.. so
I don't think it is because the cd is scratched. Anyone
have any suggestions at all? I am completely out of ideas.

Andy is correct - Failure to install MS operating systems is usually
because of 1) bad RAM; 2) bad hard drive; 3) other bad hardware, in
that order. I like Memtest86 to test RAM (from www.memtest86.com) - let
the test run for an extended (like overnight) period of time - unless
errors are seen immediately. Test the hard drive with a diagnostic
utility from the mftr.
