Windows XP Pro and no RUN command

R

ritter197

I just came back to help a friend with a number of items on his computer.

All seems to work fine now but I saw no RUN command and putting his Windows
XP CD in the computer, it found that with the various updates his present
installation is newer than the CD and will not install or repair.

How does he get RUN back?

Properties > Start Menu > Customize and
place a check next to "Display Run", then
click OK.

I never tried that but I doubt it. But in a previous post a recommendation
was made and I gave him the instructions over the phone ( he is almost blind
and cannot post in NG'S) and it works again.

Thanks

Thanks Wesley. That is a library of good information. I will print it out.

HOW did you find so fast the exact place in Kelly's for the Run command? I
saw no search button for the more than 300 entries.

@ Kelly's, or on any web page, hit Ctrl + F and type the Search word(s) in
the Find what box. Keep hitting your Enter key until you find what you want
or "Finished searching the document" pops up. Find (On this page) on the
Internet Explorer Edit menu is the same as Ctrl + F. I'd be lost without
Ctrl + F, whether in IE, MS Word, Wordpad or Notepad.

Besides the fact that I had already found it and had a solution written on
11 November, 2004 and stored in my archives. Fancy word archives, makes one
think of vast arrays of oak file cabinets and rotting paper. ;-)
