I agree it can be expensive. However, I also note that if you are rich
enough to afford
multiple pcs at home than you can afford to pay for the OS's you want to
use on each.

If you cant afford to pay for XP on all your home systems, then use an
OS which doesn't care.
 
As long as there is ONLY ONE computer per household you are completely
fine. Perhaps if you used more realistic examples you would not be so
confused. For instance you MUST buy SEPERATE license for each car you
own, Yes? If you want to rake the lawn in the front of the house while
wife rakes the back lawn you MUST have TWO rakes, Yes? You merely wish
to IGNORE the need or requirements to buy multiple copies, and make up
silly examples as to why. As to purchasing a RETAIL Windows license you
may MOVE it from PC to PC as you wish, just as you may MOVE the vacuum
cleaner from room to room. As you can see, your problem is with your
examples and not reality.
