Windows XP Phantom Mapped Drives

I have a network with the following configuration: (Server - Microsoft
SBS2003 Standard; Linksys/Cisco Wireless Router/Switch; Linksys Switch;
2 Dell Laptops; 3 Dell Workstations). The laptops have this issue of
when they switch from Hardwire to wireless, Wireless to hardwire or
have both enabled at once, these 4 disconnected mapped drives appear
(W: - Z:). The mapped point the same location as a particular mapped
drive generated via a logon script (S: -> \\SERVER\SHARE$). To get them
to go away I have to reboot. They will not go away. I have been
researching this issue for about 2 weeks now.

The following command should unmap the drives without having to reboot.
net use * /delete
If you need to remap them you could follow this with additional commands.

Apparently the connection to the mapped drives is lost when switching the
network connection. I don't usually see that behavior. Perhaps the fact
that it's a hidden share is a factor.

I have tried using net use * /delete, net use Z: /delete. The only
response I get is when I use the net use * /delete and all it does is
delete the valid maps. I have almost always used hidden shares ever
since 3.11 & nt 3.51 days. no other network I manage that is similar in
setup does this, only this network. only difference is the fact i did
not do the initial server and network installation, i took over as
admin.
