My EMS squad recently put a new Dell machine into service
running windows XP. Everyone was given a username and
password so that people's activities could be tracked.
The welcome screen runs extremely slowly (there are
approx. 50 users) and the machine is freezing up. Does
anyone know of a way to fix this? The computer was brand
new in August. Please get back to me.

You may wish to perform a "tune-up" that may help:

1. Perform a DISK CLEANUP:
(Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup)

2. Go to Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter. In the Command
Prompt window type: CHKDSK /F , and hit enter, answer "yes" and
reboot your computer.

3. Afterward, perform a DEFRAG of your hard drive.

I didn't know that a single copy of XP could have 50 user accounts.
